Paisley 1.5 - Inverclyde 6.5


Inverclyde Central got the new season off to a winning start in the third Renfrewshire Challenge match in Paisley. Paisley Chess Club have been hosting Inverclyde's home matches in the Glasgow League for the past few seasons and this fixture was initiated to test the suitability of their venue, but has now become a regular event.

The heavily outgraded hosts performed creditably in taking 1.5 points on the top two boards, but were overwhelmed in the other six games by the Inverclyde team. Notable peformances came from Marc Sheridan, who won quickly, and Stephen Riley, returning for his first game for the club in over five years.
