Inverclyde Central 1 - 7 Bearsden

Inverclyde Central suffered a heavy defeat in their fifth league match against one of the favourites for the glasgow league title , Bearsden A.

The Dunbartonshire side were heavy favourites going into this fixture and with Inverclyde being considerably under strength this was always going to be a big ask from the Greenock club . In fact Bearsden out graded their opponents by an average 230 grade points , a huge advantage.

Inverclyde suffered an early defeat with Ian Nelson losing the first game of the night to a talented young player .

Unlucky defeats soon followed for team captain Jim Mc Granaghan and Stephen Hilton . New player Andy Curran had his experienced opponent on the ropes with a brave piece sacrifice , however his wily opponent hung on and managed to win the game .

This was followed by the first result of the night , a lucky draw for Marc Sheridan who was two pawns down and heading for defeat when his opponent blundered and allowed Sheridan to stage a comeback .

Further unlucky defeats followed for John Calder and Stephen Doherty .

However the result of the evening came last with Kevin Mc Donald managing a superb draw against a young up and coming International Master . This is following several excellent results against titled players for Mc Donald in the last couple of seasons.
